Introduction to Savitribai Phule Pune University
Established in 1949, Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly the University of Pune ) is one of the top universities in Pune, Maharashtra. It is popularly known as the 'Oxford of the East'.
It is a public university that ranks among the top 650 universities in the world as per the recent QS world universities rankings.
Savitribai Phule Pune University is a UGC-recognized university. It is also accredited with A+ grade by NAAC.
The university offers distance and online learning courses through The School of Open Learning (SoL).
Savitribai Phule Pune University School of Open Learning (SoL) was established in 2018. Now it is one of the popular names in the field of Open and Distance Education in India and quite popular among students in Pune, Maharashtra.
The School of Open Learning (SoL) offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. The medium of instruction of all courses is Marathi and English.

The distance MBA offered by Savitribai Phule Pune University is a 2-year degree program. The distance MBA degree is equivalent to the MBA degree obtained through regular mode of education.
The program has a total of 110 credits divided into 4 semesters. The program also includes a MOOC course and a project.
It’s a dual specialization program that allows students choose a major and a minor specialization from the total 12 specializations available.

Eligibility Criteria
A 3-year bachelor’s degree from a UGC recognized university in any discipline with minimum 50% marks (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories, economically weaker section and persons with disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only).
Students will also be required to clear the Entrance Examination conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The admission will be allotted based on the category wise merit list prepared by the university.
Fee Structure
The total fee for Savitribai Phule Pune University distance MBA program is INR 66,860 for the students of universities from Maharashtra.
For students from universities from outside Maharashtra, the total fee is INR 70,460.
First year fee need to be paid during the admission process. The fee can be paid online and it includes registration fee, tuition fee, eligibility fee, study material fee, study centre fee and regular examination fee.
Admission Process
Register for Entrance Exam
Students seeking admission in Savitribai Phule Pune University distance MBA program need to appear in an entrance exam conducted by the university. The duration of the entrance exam is 1 hour and syllabus for the exam is same as the as the syllabus of Entrance Examination for regular MBA Program.
Students can register for the entrance exam through university’s official website.
There will be total 50 questions of 2 marks each in the entrance exam. There will be no negative marking in the examination.
Based on the marks obtained, a merit list will be prepared as per the norms of Maharashtra Government.
Online Admission Process:
- Selected candidates can submit the online admission form.
- Students need to select a study centre. The list of available study centres is available in the online admission form.
- Candidate has to pay the admission fee online.
- After paying the admission fee, students have to download the admission form & fee receipt (PDF File) and take a print out of it.
Admission Process at Study Centres
- Students have to submit the application form along with the required documents at the study centre selected during the application process.

- ABC-ID / APAR-ID Card (Original & Xerox Copy)
- Mark sheet of Bachelor Degree (Original & Xerox Copy)
- S.C. (10th Standard) Certificate (Original & Xerox Copy)
- Proof of Change in Students’ name, if any (Original & Xerox Copy)
- One of the following (as applicable) (Original)
Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate:
- Transfer Certificate is required in case the previous admission is
- in the college affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University or
- as a regular student in any Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University or
- as an external student of Savitribai Phule Pune University
- (Transfer Certificate is not required if the previous admission is in School of Open and Distance Learning of Savitribai Phule Pune University.)
- Migration Certificate is required in case the previous admission is in Department/ College of any other University.

Examinations
The examinations consist of Internal Assessment & End-Semester Examination.
Internal assessment is conducted at study centres. Students get assignment questions from study centre and they have to complete the assignments & submit the same to study centre.
The end term exams are written exams conducted by the university. The examinations are conducted at examination centres assigned by the university, the centres are located at at Pune, Ahilyanagar & Nashik.
Students require minimum 40% marks in both internal and external examinations to pass the examination.
